Advances in plant biotechnology are enabling precise propagation, genetic improvement, and stress resilience in medicinal and economically important species. Integrating in vitro regeneration, functional genomics, nanotechnology, and molecular signaling studies offers transformative potential for conservation, cultivation, and sustainable utilization.
1- Development of Efficient In Vitro Propagation and Regeneration Protocols: Standardizing reproducible protocols for diverse medicinal and economically important plants, ensuring high regeneration efficiency with true to type planting material.
2- Protoplast Isolation, Transformation, and Functional Genomics: Establishing optimized protoplast isolation and PEG-mediated transient gene expression systems for gene function studies and molecular breeding applications in plant species of western Himalayas.
3- Molecular and Transcriptomic Insights into Abiotic Stress Tolerance: Dissecting transcriptional dynamics, signaling pathways, and key regulatory genes underlying plant responses to cold, drought, heat, salinity, and multifactorial stress combinations, especially in high-altitude plants.
4- Elicitation-Mediated Plant Growth and Stress Modulation: Investigating the impact of elicitators on in vitro proliferation, morpho-physiological traits, secondary metabolite production, and stress resilience through integrative omics approaches.
5- Phytohormonal Crosstalk and Regulatory Networks: Elucidating interactions among various phyto hormoes in modulating organogenesis and abiotic stress responses, with a focus on transcription factors and signaling cascades.
6- Functional Characterization of Gene Families in Stress Signaling and Development: Genome-wide identification and expression profiling of abiotic stress responsive genes and transcription factor families to unravel their role in organogenesis, stress adaptation, and developmental processes.
