Developed a microanalytical method to determine and quantify resin and podophyllotoxin in the raw material. Podophyllotoxin present in plant or cell culture can be determined with minimum quantity (2 mg) with consistent results

Also, another method was standardized for determination of resin in raw material and podophyllotoxin up to 100 mg of raw material with almost consistent results

Methanolic extract of P.hexandrum on repeated chromatographic separation yielded two pure compounds. One was characterized as podophyllotoxin on the basis of spectral analysis and second is being elucidated.
