Medicinal Chemistry: Our research interests are primarily in the design and synthesis of novel drug targets with a particular focus on natural products analogue for the treatment of Microbial-infections.

Natural Product Synthesis: Natural products have been source of inspiration for the discovery of many drug substances. Likewise, in our quest to understand the function of molecules, we work on the development of new methods and routes for the synthesis of complex molecules possessing interesting structural, biological, and physical properties. Ultimately, we will have access to important biologically active compounds prepared through novel and efficient routes, as well as new techniques for the preparation of other structurally unique targets. Particular natural products of focus include targets with relevance to antimicrobial-infections and cancer chemotherapy.

Synthetic Organic & Catalysis Chemistry: Avoiding the implication of hazardous solvents, toxic metals and using environmentally benign solvents in the organic transformations is an important and promising alternatives for modern chemistry. We are interested in developing catalyst for various organic transformation and their applications in the synthesis of value added products utilizing natural resources.

Chemical Biology: The ability of small molecules to interact with a specific gene product or a protein and perturb their function has emerged as a powerful tool for the studying biological processes and forms the basis of modern medicine. We are interested in developing novel methodologies for the synthesis of skeletally diverse small molecule libraries of therapeutic importance.
